Afton Alps is one of the larger ski and snowboard areas in Midwest with nearly 300 acres of terrain, 50 trails and 18 chair lifts and 4 surface lifts. Afton is located in the heart of the scenic St. Croix River Valley and surrounded by Afton State Park. We offer day and night skiing and riding, as well as terrain parks and a good mix of terrain difficulty which makes Afton a good spot for families or groups with varying abilities. Our Ski & Ride School has a number of programs and lessons from the Mountain Cruisers for kids to the Adult Masters for adults and everything in between. The average snowfall at Afton is about 48 inches which might not be what you'd see at a big Colorado resort, but is pretty respectable. And, when you couple that with 100% snowmaking, we can easily open all our terrain even if nature isn't cooperating as much as we'd all like.
