The St. Cloud Rox, a proud member of the Northwoods League, is a collegiate summer baseball team in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Rox play 72 games scheduled over a 76-day season running from late May to mid-August every summer. The St. Cloud Rox have a long history in Central Minnesota. The Rox professional team existed from 1946 to 1971 in St. Cloud, playing in the Northern League. The St. Cloud Rox were an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins (1965–1971), Chicago Cubs (1960–1964), San Francisco Giants (1958–1959) and New York Giants (1946–1957). Baseball Hall of Fame members Dave Bancroft (1947), Lou Brock (1961), Orlando Cepeda (1956) and Gaylord Perry (1958) are St. Cloud Rox alumni. The Rox returned to St. Cloud as a member of the Northwoods League. Prior to the Rox the River Bats of the Northwoods League called St. Cloud home (1997-2011), St. Cloud has had a total of 34 players advance to play at the Major League Baseball level, which leads all Northwoods League teams. Plus, over 100 former Rox have been drafted by MLB teams. The Northwoods League itself has seen over 300 players reach the major league level Including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and MLB Gold Glove finalist and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TOR).
