Dave is a businessman, community leader, husband, and father. He owns a number of businesses in the Kandiyohi County area, and has led a number of community initiatives including the iCardinal campaign which raised $400,000 for the Willmar Area Community Foundation to put iPads in classrooms, and more recently the Willmar Destination Playground, a fully accessible playground for kids of all abilities. Dave was first elected to the legislature in 2014. Now serving his second term, Dave has established himself as an effective legislator with a record of delivering results for Kandiyohi County. In his first term, Dave successfully secured funds for the Willmar Wye project, the Poultry Testing Lab in Willmar, as well as emergency funding for the avian flu outbreak in 2015. He also successfully authored legislation that created a loan forgiveness program to increase the number of long-term care workers. This past year, Dave successfully secured funding for the Highway 23 expansion, a project that has been decades in the making. Dave has also been an outspoken leader on the issue of opioid abuse, chief authoring major reforms to Minnesota's prescription monitoring program, label requirements for opioid prescriptions, and more. He is committed to continuing the fight for legislation that will reduce addiction and prevent opioid overdoses in Minnesota.
