COMMUNITY IMPACT Alexandria Housing & Redevelopment Authority 2019 Difference Maker Grant Recipient $30,000 to support the labor and materials to construct the Central Minnesota Elder Network 2020 Ruth McDonald Grant Recipient Loneliness and isolation are increasing for our senior community members because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Elder Network's iPad Technology Program will utilize tablets to expand and enhance current outreach efforts in all of our programs. In our Visiting and Connections programs, iPads will be used by volunteers and clients to connect and visit virtually when in- person visits are not possible. In our Respite Programs, they will be used to connect caregivers to supportive Elder Network staff and new "Launch Pad", a two unit, twin home that wil be available to homeless families during a period of time that they search for employment and affordable housing with the help of the West Central MN Communities Action. be available to provide enriching experiences for the caregiver and care receiver. Life Connections and Love INC. 2020 Ruth McDonald Grant Recipient In partnership this fall Life Connections and Love INC. of Douglas County will offer the program, Kicking Butts, a smoking cessation program, Weekly instruction includes topics such as Theatre L'Homme Dieu 2019 Difference Maker Grant Recipient developing a proper mindset for success, becoming aware of one's smoking habit, creating an in depth quit plan to deal with individual cravings, and relapse prevention. Upon completion of this instruction, each participant will be paired with a mentor (an er-smoker) for one year to promote long term support and accountability. Now accepting applications for The Meals with Care Fund is necessary to fill the gap for those who may not qualify for free or reduced lunch but are currently experiencing a financial hardship and need some assistance with providing meals at school.
